Privacy Policy
Sayboard is a keyboard for iPhone that turns speech into text, translates it, and keeps a history of what you copy. This policy explains exactly what the app handles and what leaves your device. We collect as little as possible.
- We never log, store, or transmit your keystrokes.
- Audio is sent only while you are recording, and is discarded immediately after it is turned into text. It is never stored and never used to train AI models.
- Your clipboard history and snippets stay on your device.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising.
What we process
- Voice recordings. When you record, the audio is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing service, converted to text, and deleted. We do not keep the audio or the transcript on our servers.
- Text you choose to transform. When you use translate or polish, the selected text is sent for processing and returned. It is not stored on our servers.
- Clipboard history and snippets. Saved only in Sayboard's private storage on your device. They are never uploaded to us.
- Account information. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we store the identifier Apple provides and the name you share, on your device. Signing in is optional.
- Subscription status. When you subscribe, your iPhone sends the receipt that Apple signed to our service so it can confirm the subscription is active. It contains the product you bought and its expiry date. It does not contain your name, your email, or your payment details, and we never see your card.
- Anonymous usage counters. Our service keeps a temporary, anonymous counter tied to a random device identifier so we can apply fair-use limits. It expires automatically and is not linked to your identity.
What we never do
- We never log your keystrokes. A keyboard could technically see everything you type. Sayboard does not record, transmit, or analyse what you type.
- We never store your audio or transcripts after processing.
- We never use your content to train AI models.
- We never sell or rent your data to anyone.
Service providers
To turn speech into text and to translate or polish it, we send the audio or text to OpenRouter, which routes the request to the AI model that performs the task. They process the content to return a result and do not receive your name, email, or device identity. Our own service runs on Cloudflare Workers. Payments and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. You may instead use your own OpenRouter key, in which case requests go directly through your key.
Permissions we ask for
- Microphone. Used only while you are actively recording.
- Full Access (the iOS keyboard permission). Required for the internet connection that voice and translation need, and to read the clipboard when you copy something. Typing works without it.
Children
Sayboard is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and your rights
- Clear your clipboard history at any time from the keyboard or the app, or set it to auto-delete after an hour, a day, a week, or 30 days.
- Delete your account and all associated data from the app: Settings, then Delete Account. This removes your local data and asks our service to erase the anonymous counter and the subscription record tied to your device.
- Deleting the app removes all data stored on your device.
- You may email us to ask what data relates to you, or to request deletion.
Security
All network requests use encrypted HTTPS connections. On-device data is protected by the iOS sandbox and by your device passcode and encryption.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and the effective date above.
